Canon Mark Elected One of Four New Members of ACNA Executive Committee

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, the Anglican Church in North America’s Provincial Council elected four new members to the Provincial Executive Committee: two from the clergy, the Rev. Cn. Mark Eldredge and the Rev. Cn. Dr. Keith Allen, both from the Diocese of the Gulf Atlantic; and two from the laity, Barbara Gauthier, Diocese of the Upper Midwest; and Sarah Kwolek, Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh. They will all serve the Committee for the next three years. They shared their experiences, hopes, and love for Anglicanism to the Council, and we share some of that with you below. Please keep each of them in your prayers as they begin this new ministry for the province!

The Rev. Cn. Mark Eldredge

Canon Mark is the Acting CEO of the American Anglican Council (AAC) and Director of Anglican Revitalization Ministries. He received his Master of Divinity from Trinity School for Ministry in Ambridge, PA, and eventually served as senior pastor of Epiphany Episcopal Church. Canon Mark then led that congregation into the ACNA and continued ministering there as rector for 14 years until he began his revitalization ministry with the AAC.  At his home parish of Resurrection Anglican Church in Jacksonville, FL, he now serves by leading Celebrate Recovery programs, and continues to have a passion for evangelism, bringing the Gospel to the lost and the least in his home town and across the province. “I believe my passion for and experience helping the local church to revive and thrive will bring a needed priority to the province,” he said. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to serve the Church in this exciting capacity.”

He lives in Jacksonville with his wife, Ame, and his dog, Buddington, and he has three adult children and three grandchildren.

The Rev. Cn. Dr. Keith Allen

Canon Keith is the rector of Christ Church, Vero Beach, FL, and is the ACNA’s Canon to Myanmar. He answered God’s call to vocational ministry and was ordained in 1990, spending the years that followed seeking to share God’s love, truth, and grace with others. He has done academic work in the areas of Biblical Studies (BA, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary); missiology (MA in Global Studies, Liberty School of Divinity); and organizational leadership (DMin, Asbury Theological Seminary), seeking the tools to better share the Gospel. “Through the years,” he wrote of his service to the Executive Committee, “I have worked cross culturally with leaders who have different cultural expectations and priorities, and I have come to understand that I have much to learn from others . . . I will bring my best thinking, but also my best listening skills, as I know that together we will hear from the Lord.”

In 1989, he married Kim, and they have been partners in ministry throughout their marriage as church planters and pastors in North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Mississippi, and in Florida. They have two adult children, Kat and John.

Dr. Barbara Gauthier

Barbara Gauthier is an Anglican journalist and theologian who produces the ‘Anglican News Update’ and is currently a member of the Forward in Faith Council. With her husband Stephen, she has created a six-week curriculum of catechesis and confirmation instruction, and together they provide adult training on Anglicanism in parishes throughout their diocese. Barbara has published articles on both historic Anglicanism and the inestimable value and Biblical breadth of women’s ministry in the Church. When asked how her experiences would inform her service on the Executive Committee, she responded, “I’ve found that a faith which is sacramental, scriptural, and full of the Spirit has enabled me to engage productively with individuals in each of the three streams within our Anglican river.”

During her 45 years in Anglicansim and doctoral studies, Barbara has been immersed in the Scriptures, the teachings and witness of church fathers, and the daily rhythms of prayer and worship. She desires to bring those aspects of the faith to her diocese and the province.

Sarah Kwolek

Sarah manages the administrative operations, budget, and staff of the Anglican Diocese of Pittsburgh office. She previously served the diocese as Director of Stewardship and Partnership, has held numerous development and administrative roles in corporate and non-profit sectors, and has volunteered throughout her life in the administration of various congregations. She exhibits a deep commitment to collaborating with partners across the diocese to further its mission and accomplish its work. Sarah described her background in administration, partner development, financial systems and oversight, and volunteer recruitment as essential skills she can bring to the table of the Executive Committee. “I have always been required to represent organizations to the public and to listen well to staff, volunteers, and constituents,” she stated. “Finding a way forward when opinions diverge or even clash is a challenge often surmounted by prayer and listening.”

Sarah holds a B.A. in psychology and religion from Emory University and a M.A. in missions and theology from Trinity Anglican Seminary. She is married to Mark, a music teacher in the Pittsburgh Public Schools, and they have three children together: Micah, Jonathan, and Anna.
